Snowy Thoughts . . .

I love snow!
My love of the white, cold, fluffy stuff began long ago.
Here I am as a toddler playing in the snow.
I love everything about these pictures.
The little wagon, my snow clothes & the cute snowman standing beside our old Christmas tree.

I love 'snow days'!
You know, the days when school is cancelled.
I don't remember too many 'snow days' from my school years.
One time in high school classes we were out of class because of a big snow.  Most of it melted away before the end of the day.

My favorite 'snow day' memories are those from my 30 years of teaching.  During the winter of 1979 I think the ground stayed white from January to March.  We missed many days in the classroom that year.

Throughout the years I have to admit I was just as excited as the students were when it was announced that school was closed.  Of course, the reality of those days having to be made up were pushed aside.

Have you ever heard of Wilson 'Snowflake' Bentley?
Here's my post from Jan. '09 about Wilson.

So far our winter has been mild & warmer than normal.
Only a little snow on Jan. 12th.

I'm still hoping for a beautiful snowstorm!

I hope you get a nice big fluffy (non ice) snow too!

I love those retro pictures of baby you in the snow. Those would be cute to enlarge and frame for winter decor along side your snowmen. There is something about a fresh snowfall that makes everything new and quiet.

We got a wee bit of snow here; just under 3 inches.
Last year we got hammered....so I have been so grateful for this winter being more mild.
It is wonderful though to snuggle up and watch those magical snow flakes come down :)

Cute pics of you as a toddler and your post on Snowflake Bentley was very interesting. What great material for teaching.

I'm going to go back and read your post on Wilson. I enjoy a nice snowfall, too. Course it does get a little ho-hum after a while. And my favorite snow days were those unexpected gifts of days off from the classroom, too. Since we prepared in advance for the possibility, we didn't have to make them up. (We had a longer school day.)

I love it when it snows here as long as I don't have to drive in it. It is especially magical now that we have Mary:) I tried your potato soup recipe. I had to change it some to what I had on hand. It turned out really yummy! I will share the recipe on my blog with a link to your blog for your recipe. Have a great day!

I remember the snow we got in 1979! Our oldest son was three years old and I'd bundle him up and we'd go outside and play, play, play. I am loving this winter after last winter. Can you tell I don't share your love of snow?

VERY cute! We don't get alot of snow here in Mesa AZ... okay, so we don't get ANY snow. Sad I know. We have to travel hours just to see any. :/

Thanks so much for linking up to Sassy Sites for our free for all party. Be sure to join us tomorrow morning for some shout outs! Have a wonderful weekend!

XOXO!

Wow! a vintage photo of Bentley AND a new "best bedtime story" for my little boys. Thanks for thinking to post this again (I doubt I would have stumbled upon the older post). Thanks for sharing!

I have a very similar photograph of me ... around the age of 4 ... before a snowman. What memories your post awakens!!!

I remember when we had a snow storm and our dad built us a huge snow fort. It seemed huge at the time since we were very young, but I will always remember it. I am a snow lover, and spend most winters cross country skiing and snowshoeing. But this winter has been different, and I woke up this morning to green grass. I hope we both get a LOT of big fluffy snowflakes soon! I'm visiting from Seasonal Sundays.

I too love snow AND snow days! I'm thrilled when school gets cancelled and I get to honker down and hang out with my children.

Great to have you be a part of Seasonal Sundays.
