Back To School

Today is the first day of school in the town where I taught for 30 years.
I have to admit, this is the first time since my retirement in 2008, that I have had a twinge of longing to be back in the classroom.
I have seen several "first day of school" pictures on Facebook this morning.
Smiling faces of eager children & one cute, sad face of a former student, who was sending her son to his first day of pre-K.

To the teachers & staff who work so faithfully to educate our children,
I will be praying for you as a new school year begins.
You may never know what seeds of learning & love you are planting.  Someone in your classroom this year may be a future doctor, nurse, preacher, teacher, lawyer, construction worker, mom, dad, the list goes on and on.  Every year I taught I tried to remember that I could make a difference in a child's life. O yes, as you can imagine there were times that this was hard to remember.
Good luck teachers & students!

Hi Carol. I'm sure you were a great teacher and influenced many little lives. God bless you. Oh, I have heard of Boopie glass but didn't know what it was! Thanks for the info. Now I have Boopies! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Thank you for your many years of dedication and hard work for the sake of children. Your light shinned all over Mannford town. Now I have the song "This little Light of mine" stuck in my head.

First day of school here in my town too. While I rode my bike through the neighborhood this morning I saw many parents taking pictures in their front yards of brightly dress kids with filled backpacks.

I miss it this time of year too Carol. It's weird to be at the store where all the school supplies are and not buy them. I always bought lots of extra stuff when it was on sale.

I don't miss the stress though. Do you?

Well said. I still love to wander through the back to school aisles and sniff paper and crayons. LOL Can not say that I would like to be heading back to the classroom this fall, though. Do you substitute teach just to get your classroom fix?
