Expectation . . .

My soul, wait silently
for God alone,
for my expectation is from Him.
Psalm 62:5

Painting by G. Harvey

When parents are awaiting the arrival of a baby, we say they are "expecting." This time of expectation affects every aspect of their lives. Whether the days are easy or tough, what lies ahead makes it all worth it. The sense of expectation grows along with the precious child inside its mother.

Even if you are not "expecting" a child, you should still live an expectant life. God has great things ahead for you. Some may take place slowly throughout your lifetime, while others will catch you in a moment of joyous surprise. Expect God to do good things in your life. Wait for them, anticipate them, prepare for them. Keep your eyes open. Adventure awaits.

High expectations are the key to everything.

I loved this! My philosophy in life has always been to have high expectations of myself.

I just wrote a long comment and I think something happened to it. :(

If it doesn't show up I'll write it again.

I'll try this again....

I read a devotion recently that made me think of expectations.

Pete Rose (famous baseball player) was being interviewed in spring training the year he was about to break Ty Cobb's all time hits record. One reporter blurted out, "Pete, you only need 78 hits to break the record. How may at-bats do you think you'll need to get the 78 hits?" Without hesitation, Pete just stared at the reporter and very matter-of-factly said, "78." The reporter yelled back, 'Ah, come on Pete, you don't expect to get 78 hits in 78 at-bats do you?" Mr. Rose calmly shared his philosophy with the throngs of reporters who were anxiously awaiting his reply to this boastful claim. "Every time I step up to the plate, I expect to get a hit! If I don't expect to get a hit, I have no right to step in the batter's box in the first place!" "If I go up hoping to get a hit, then I probably don't have a prayer to get a hit. It is a positive expectation that has gotten me all of the hits in the first place."

I thought that was good and worth passing along.

Thanks for this post today Carol.

P.S. Look at my latest post (Sat.)
My son found a lamp in a window like the one you and your husband saw while looking at Christmas lights recently. I thought of you.
