Scary Weather Again & Again

Our weather was very scary yesterday.
Here's what happened in a nutshell.
Tornadoes skipped above & around my home town a few miles from where we live.
Hubby tried to beat the storm.  We live 45 minutes from his office.  The transmission went out in his vehicle on the turnpike. Our son, Bobby, had to pick him up.  They had to wait for the tow truck.   Thank goodness they were there in 10 minutes.
This is the picture Bobby took while they waited.  Storms passed on to the east.  Thank the Lord everything & everyone was safe & sound.  While we waited for Bobby to go to his office & tie up some loose ends, another storm was forming west of town.  It appeared to be going north.

We met Bobby at Zio's for dinner.
While we were eating the waiter told us the weather was getting bad again.  Our cell phones got a severe thunderstorm warning call. We quickly finished our dinner.  When we went outside it looked bad to the east & south in Broken Arrow where Bobby & Kari live.  She was at her parents in their storm shelter.  While we drove home the tornado sirens were blaring.  When we got home we climbed down into the cellar & stayed there 30 minutes.  So thankful once again that everything & everyone was safe.  Some folks in Broken Arrow weren't as fortunate & suffered damage to their homes.

Taken right before the tornado touched down in Broken Arrow.  About 7 miles from our house.

Mr. weatherman says we expect more of the same weather this afternoon & evening.
I Hope he's wrong!

Resemblance

I've already blogged about this precious picture of Emma, here.
The moment I saw the photo I immediately could see a resemblance with this sweet figurine that my sister, Susan, gave me.
She is always finding the cutest reading figurines for me.
This is my favorite.

The Best Part

We had a very busy Saturday & Sunday.
We visited my hometown for the annual reunion parade.  I got to see some familiar faces & had a great time visiting with them.  We went to Hubby's school reunion in the little town where he was born.  It was good to see his brother, sister-in-law & nieces.  Duane & Verla live in Moore, OK.  Their home was not harmed in the horrible tornado last week.
Sunday, the kids came over for dinner.  This was the best part of our weekend.
Ethan & Emma enjoyed eating corn on the cob.
The homemade ice-cream was good to the last drop.
Simple moments like this become priceless memories.

Never Forget, Freedom Isn't Free

Dark Skies Again

The skies are dark again today.
Thunder, lightning, rain & hail are occurring in the Oklahoma City area.
Those poor people can't catch a break.
I've lit some candles this morning to add my own sunshine.
I'm hoping the skies will clear for the storm victims so they can continue their cleanup & recovery.

Hope you visit again tomorrow.
I plan on doing a more cheerful post.
I promise.
I'm weary of all the sadness.

Heavenly Sunlight

Hello, my friends.
I am rejoicing this morning to see sunshine.
Yesterday, the day after the tornado, was a rainy, gloomy day.  It seemed as if the sky was crying.  The thunder & lightning was heard off & on all day long.  My mood matched the day.  My thoughts were constantly thinking about the people of  Edmond, Shawnee, Carney, OKC & Moore.  Because I am a retired teacher, my sadness about the schools that were destroyed is huge.  The school I taught in was destroyed 29 years ago.  Thankfully, it happened on a Sunday morning.  If it had been  Monday, the loss would have been devastating.

Seeing the sun shining has already lightened my spirits.
I am so very thankful for my many, many blessings.

Please continue to pray for Oklahoma.

Heavenly sunlight! Heavenly sunlight!
Flooding my soul with glory divine;
Hallelujah! I am rejoicing,
Singing His praises, Jesus is mine!

Shadows around me, shadows above me
Never conceal my Savior and Guide;
He is the light, in Him is no darkness,
Ever I’m walking close to His side.

Another Tragedy

I'm at a loss for words.
My heart is breaking.
Two days in a row of tragedy caused by tornadoes.
 Please pray for my state.
"Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness.
For we do not know what to pray for as we ought,
but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words."
 Romans 8:26

Praying For Oklahoma Tornado Damaged Areas

I just couldn't do a lighthearted post this morning when I know so many are suffering this morning here in Oklahoma.
Please pray for the folks of central Oklahoma who lost so much yesterday.
It is a miracle that only one person lost his life.

Vintage Chalkboard & Books

2 weeks ago we had a busy weekend of  family activities, but Sis Sue & I still found time to shop here . . .
We shopped there 2 week before & of course bought a few items.
I saw this vintage chalkboard  for $12.00 & decided to not buy it.
I thought about it for 2 weeks wishing I had brought it home.
Lo & behold it was still for sale.  In the shopping cart it went.
It's a great addition to the reading/toy corner.
I love children's book, especially vintage books.
These are so neat, $2.00 each.

Do you decorate your home with vintage finds from garage sales, flea markets & antique shops?

Cloudy Day & Candles

Yesterday was a rainy day & last night we enjoyed some old fashioned thunderstorms
We woke up to cloudy skies this morning & it looks like it will stay that way all day.
It's the perfect day for lighting candles to make my own sunshine.
Thank you, Sis Sue, for the awesome 'garden ivy' candle.
I poked some plant clippings in this little creamer.
It's not ivy, but close enough.
I bought this vintage grater at the
Flying Pig Vintage Market, a few weeks ago.
It makes a great place for a tea light.
This one is eucalyptus from
Thanks, Becky!

Thanks for visiting today!
Spread a little sunshine wherever you go today.
Smile!
