Oklahoma On Fire

I'm not posting my usual "Weekly Words To Live By" this morning.
The past few days have been devastating to Oklahoma and I wanted to give you a glimpse of what's been going on.
Our family lived In Mannford, Oklahoma for 30 years before we moved to Tulsa 8 years ago.  My Hubby still works there.
Yesterday, Mannford along with several surrounding towns were evacuated because of raging wildfires.
Here are a few pictures of the inferno.
Our friend, Larry took this picture from his home north of Mannford around 8:00 last night.
Looking south from highway 51 in Mannford.
This is a little to the right of the last picture.
The flames were headed straight for the warehouse of the telephone company Hubby works for.
He had been there earlier checking on things.
Also, homes & the business area were in harms way.
Thankfully helicopters dumping water & the firefighters were able to contain the fire before it went any further.  A little rain came last night, but not enough to end the drought.
This morning, people were told they could return to their homes.
The town is still without power.
Many homes were destroyed south of town.  One of my former students, April lost her home.
She has a 6 year old & a newborn.  Needless to say she is very distraught.
I'm anxiously awaiting news updates about the damage others may have had.
Please pray for Oklahoma.
We need relief from the heat & rain, rain & more rain.

Thank you for stopping by today.

Hi Carol, Since we've just gone through something like this, here in Colorado, I will be praying for rain, the fire crews and people impacted.
Hugs, Noreen

Carol, that is so terrifying! A friend of mine lives in Luther and she had to evacuate her farm leaving her animals. Fortunately, her farm was spared. This time of year it seems to always come..we'll be praying for you and everyone else.

My husband and several others traveled to OKC on Friday and saw the fires from the turnpike. Such a terrifying time. We pray for all those folks that were effected and thankful for those brave firefighters that worked so hard. Oklahoma is in desperate need of rain.
