Inspired To Create
Decorating with burlap is all the rage right now.
I shopped at Hobby Lobby yesterday in search of burlap.
Here are some Pinterest ideas that use burlap.
Click on pictures for links to source . . .
Hobby Lobby was out of burlap ribbon.
I'll check back soon to see if they restock.
I did buy 2 yards of burlap & 1/2 price orange deco mesh.
Debbie of Confessions of A Plate Addict has inspired me to make a burlap table runner.
She has a great tutorial on how to sew the runner.

Not The Same
My September, Southern Living magazine arrived yesterday.
Long ago I noticed that Southern Living is not like it was a few years ago.
The 'old' SL was a large, stapled publication, filled with great ideas to inspire decorating, renovation, gardening, cooking, healthy living & much more.
The 'new' SL is thin & in my opinion filled with too many advertisements.
There are still decorating ideas & recipes, but nothing compared to the way it was.
I thought this full page ad for a new game show was funny.
Now, that should be entertaining.
I wonder if it will be like a good old fashioned Bible drill from my childhood?
I still look forward to getting my Southern Living in the mail, especially the October, November & December editions, I just wish it was like it was back in the day.

Slipping Away
August is coming to an end.
The feel of autumn is in the air, especially at night & early morning.
We were blessed with some wonderful rain over the weekend.
I'm still waiting to start decorating for autumn.
I'll get started the day after Labor Day.
Labor Day weekend always marks the last hoorah of the summer.
We're looking forward to a relaxing time.
Today I'm sending positive thoughts & prayers to family & friends who may be affected by hurricane Issac. Stay safe everyone!

Wash, Dry, Fold, Repeat
This is where I wash, dry, fold, repeat!
The laundry room.
It's still decorated in country style.
I'm thankful for my laundry room.
My Mother didn't have a dryer until my first year of college.
Oh, the memories of hanging out laundry on the clothes line to dry.
Summer, spring & fall it wasn't too bad, but winter was brutal.
I keep a rug on the dryer so the top won't get scratched when "people" put junk on top like flashlights, screw drivers, etc. I'm sure you get the picture. HA HA!
This lamp is on 24/7.
This butter churn belonged to Bob's Mother.
Country to the core!
I think it may be time to update the laundry room!
Share your thoughts please.

C-O-M-F-O-R-T
I finally found it!
A comfortable walking shoe!
I bought these at Kohl's yesterday.
They are super lightweight!
Love that!
I checked out other colors on line at Zappos &
Famous Footwear.
I would be a snazzy Nana if I wore these.
These lace ups look interesting.
I think I'll just stick to the basic black or brown.
BTW, guys they've got them for men too.
What is your favorite athletic shoe?

School Daze In The Kitchen Window
I added a few 'school daze' touches to the kitchen window.
All these pieces are from my classroom collection.
A fun retro book about school.
"Look what I did in school today!"
"I touch the future . . . I teach . . ."
Aunt Bee's cookbook
I wonder what Opie liked to eat for an after school snack?
Maybe this . . .
