Words That Inspire
This picture by Mary Engelbreit brings back memories of my childhood. Playing after dark, catching lightening bugs. Laying on a quilt gazing at the stars.
We have had cool, beautiful summer nights for several weeks. Reminds me of the summer nights when I was growing up. Some evenings it feels like autumn is creeping closer.
To every thing there is a season,
and a time to every purpose under the heaven.

Words That Inspire
With all the horrible, evil situations going on in our world right now it's easy to lose sight of the truth.
God is in control.
"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,
saith the LORD,
thoughts of peace,
and not of evil,
to give you an expected end."
Jeremiah 29:11
Wishing you a week of peace . . .

Rainy Day Sunshine
What do you do on a cool rainy day in late July? I decided to create a little sunshine on my two large chalkboards. I found the ideas on Pinterest.
"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are grey."
I love that little song.
I also like this song.
"I see trees of green,
red roses too.
I see them bloom,
for me and you.
And I think to myself,
what a wonderful world."
Here's the link to my Chalkboards board on Pinterest.
So happy you stopped by for a visit!

Banana Plantation
We are having fun watching our one plant banana plantation grow.
Here it is on July 6th.
July 20th
We are also enjoying homegrown tomatoes from our 2 container plants.
Emma helping Papaw.
Ethan picked a few.
The temperatures were fantastic last week. Highs in the 60's & 70's, lows in the 50's.
What a treat that was. The heat is back this week, but so far there is no mention of temps of 100.
Thank you for visiting!

Do nothing from rivalry or conceit,

Star Spangled Day
Our 4th of July celebration was so much fun.
The grand kids had a blast!
We started celebrating with our neighborhood parade.
Beauty queen, Emma, insisted on carrying this faux daisy. So CUTE!
Ethan & teddy are ready for the parade.
Emma & Ethan's cousin, Levi, came to join in the fun.

Growing Too Fast
My grand kids are growing by leaps & bounds.
Ethan lost his 1st tooth yesterday.
Makes me sad & happy at the same time.
The other day when Ethan was walking by the flower pots at the front door
, he paused & looked at the flowers. He pointed out to me that the petunias were the colors of the USA. This for sure proves he's growing up & showing what he's being taught. So proud of this big boy!
Love you, buddy!

Celebrating Red, White & Blue
I've been a little slow decorating the house for July 4th.
I've already shown you my mantel.
Red, white & blue in the dining room.
On the side table . . .

Grandma Minnie's guilt with some new place mats from Old Time Pottery.
I'll add a few flags to this antique pitcher.
Another side table . . .
I just love Holly Hobby!
When I saw this plate at my favorite antique/junkin' store I knew it had to come home with me.
"It's a star spangled day when you share it with a friend."
My littles are coming over in a few days with their Mommy to help me finish decorating for our 4th of July celebration. They have so much fun taking items out of the storage tubs & finding places for them around the house. I'll share pictures soon.

Words That Inspire
I learned to recite this when I was about 4 years old. Even though I didn't fully understand the meaning of these words, over the years I have grown to love & honor what it means.

Baby Your Appliances
Today I'm sharing a great tip that I found on Pinterest.
Click on picture for instructions.
I tried it on my fridge & dishwasher this morning.
I think it looks great. There are not streaks.
An added plus is the kitchen smells wonderful.

In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation that officially established June 14 as Flag Day;
in August 1949, National Flag Day
was established by an Act of Congress.

There Shall Be Showers of Blessing
written by
Daniel W. Whittle
1883
There shall be showers of blessing:
This is the promise of love;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
Sent from the Savior above.
There shall be showers of blessing,
Precious reviving again;
Over the hills and the valleys,
Sound of abundance of rain.
There shall be showers of blessing;
Send them upon us, O Lord;
Grant to us now a refreshing,
Come, and now honor Thy Word.
Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need:
Mercy-drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.
Wishing you a day filled with blessings . . .
