Weekly Words To Live By #29 . . .

Turn the volume up so you can hear
the wonderful Michael Buble sing this song!

My Grown Up Christmas List

Do you remember me
I sat upon your knee
I wrote to you
With childhood fantasies

Well, I'm all grown up now
And still need help somehow
I'm not a child
But my heart still can dream

So here's my lifelong wish
My grown up Christmas list
Not for myself
But for a world in need

No more lives torn apart
That wars would never start
and wars would never start
And time would heal all hearts
And everyone would have a friend
And right would always win
And love would never end
This is my grown up Christmas list

As children we believed
The grandest sight to see
Was something lovely
Wrapped beneath our tree

Well heaven only knows
That packages and bows
Can never heal
A hurting human soul

No more lives torn apart
That wars would never start
And time would heal all hearts
And everyone would have a friend
And right would always win
And love would never end
This is my grown up Christmas list

What is this illusion called the innocence of youth
Maybe only in our blind belief can we ever find the truth
This is my grown up Christmas list

Slowly But Surely . . .

Decorating our house for Christmas has been a challenge!
I get pretty tuckered out after working an hour on
decking the halls, and have to rest a while before starting again.
My recovery is going well. The Dr. has reduced my insulin
and blood pressure medication significantly.
Woo-hoo!

My hubby, son, and daughter~in~law have helped a lot.
Thanks guys for being such great helpers!
Come back soon to see a little mini tour of the Christmas bling!
Thanks for dropping by for a visit!

It's much easier than traditional shopping at stores.
I am not a 'Black Friday' shopper!
Have you ever shopped with QVC?

Four Weeks Ago . . .

On Wednesday, October 6th, I was rushed to the hospital in septic shock.

I had surgery for an infection, found out I was a diabetic, and had a light
heart attack. The good news is I am almost healed from the surgery and I'm managing the diabetes. Also after having a heart cath. I found out my heart is very healthy, no blockages. In fact the doctor told the nurse I have the heart of a twenty year old.
He thinks the heart attack was caused by the stress of the infection. No damage.
I'm grateful to God that He watched over me and spared my life.
My wonderful family has been so loving and caring.
Without them I wouldn't be this far along in my recovery.
I'll be back soon doing more posts.
Thanks for stopping by for a visit.

Busy Getting Ready . . .

Our subdivision is having its biannual garage sale this Saturday.
I started filling boxes in July with things I no longer need.
Now I need to dig out more stuff from the attic, it was just too
hot to go in there until now.

Friday night at 7:00 is preview night where residents can
shop early. I'm hoping to find some treasures for Ethan like
books, toys, & clothes.

We should have great weather on Saturday.
I'm lovin' this Autumn weather.

Thanks for stopping by, hope you have a great day!

Two Years . . .

Two years ago today I started blogging.

When I retired from teaching in June of 2008
I wanted to start blogging, but didn't get the
courage until September.
I'm so glad I finally took the plunge!

I have read so many blogs that have inspired me during these 2 years.
I have met some amazing friends.
I've only met 2 blog friends in person.
This past March, I met Valerie & Sherry.
How delightful!
Wished I lived closer so we could meet for lunch often.
Some blogging friends I may never meet in person, but I feel like I know them so well!

I love reading your comments!
If you're stopping by today, hope you'll
leave a comment and become a follower.

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Remembering Nine Years Ago . . .

Today we remember a day that changed America.

We should never forget the shock, sadness, fear and disbelief
we experienced that day and the days that followed.
We found comfort in praying and gathering
near our family and friends.

We're showing our strength today by flying Old Glory.
God Bless America!

Matthew 5:14-16
(New International Version)

14"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.
15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.
Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
16In the same way, let your light shine before men,
that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Introducing A New Blog . . .

Two friends have joined forces to create
a new blog.

The two mommies live miles apart.
One in Oklahoma, my daughter~in~law, Kari, and her friend, Alicia, who lives in California.
Even though they have never met in person they became fast
friends through reading each other's blog, texting, & Face Book.
Please go by & give them a warm welcome.
