If I Had My Druthers . . .

Which means . . .

If I had unlimited funds to do remodeling projects

around my house!

I like to imagine how nice it would be to . . .

have a wonderful kitchen like Ina Garten

cooks in on the Food Network . . .

a huge walk in pantry . . .

a front porch swing to lounge in and watch
the world pass by . . .
I grew up with one of these . . .
wonderful times spent there . . .

a cozy back porch featuring a fireplace . . .

an outdoor kitchen complete with a pizza oven . . .

another kitchen item . . .

I wouldn't even mind doing dishes in a

large farmhouse sink . . .

it would be so nice having a baking center

with everything so easy to find . . .

Okay,

I'm finished daydreaming!

Don't Worry, Pray . . . (Words To Live By)

Don't try to figure it out on your own . . .

The truth about worrying . . .

What prayer can do . . .

Wishing you a blessed Sunday . . .

No Texting Pledge . . .

source google

Excuse me while I get on my soapbox!  Are you guilty of texting while driving?

Well, I can barely text while setting on my sofa let along while driving!

I am quilty of answering my phone while driving.  I'm taking the pledge to not use my cell phone

when I'm behind the wheel.  I have been begging my family members (who will remain nameless)

to stop texting while driving.

I'm very happy that the state of Oklahoma is taking steps to pass a law

to enforce no texting while driving.

Oklahoma is a step closer to banning drivers from texting. House lawmakers are set to vote on a measure which would impose a steep fine.
House Bill 3250, by state Rep. Sue Tibbs and state Rep. Danny Morgan, would penalize any person who is operating a motor vehicle on a street or highway while using a cellular telephone or electronic communication device to write, send or read a text-based communication while the motor vehicle is in motion with a fine of up to $1,000.
“This is an important measure that hopefully will encourage drivers to pull off the road to a safe area if they must text someone,” said Tibbs. “This could save people from serious injuries or death. There’s no reason for innocent lives to be lost because a text couldn’t wait.

Does your state have a law against texting?

Let's take it a step further, don't dial or talk on the phone while driving.

If your cell phone rings while driving just wait until you're off the

road before you check to see who called.

Okay, I'll stop preaching now!

But seriously, take the pledge!

Kids Draw The Darndest Things . . .

I can't resist sharing this cute little story

I received in an e-mail from my sister~in~law, Yvonne!

As a retired elementary teacher it

really tickled my funny bone!

Why children's homework should be checked

before it's turned in . . .

A first grade girl handed in this drawing for her homework assignment. The teacher graded it and the child brought it home. She returned to school the next day with the following note:

Dear Ms. Davis,

I want to be perfectly clear on my child's homework illustration. It is NOT of me on a dance pole on a stage in a strip joint surrounded by male customers with money. I work at Home Depot and had commented to my daughter how much money we made in the recent snowstorm. This drawing is of me selling a shovel.

Sincerely, Mrs. Harrington

Birthday Bash . . .

We celebrated Ethan's birthday Saturday afternoon.

Before he enjoyed his first taste of cake

he took off his shirt so he could really get messy.

He didn't know what to think about

tasting something so sweet!

After getting cleaned up it was time for opening gifts.

What a fun birthday bash!

1st Birthday . . .

Happy 1st Birthday to Ethan!

It's hard to beleive how quickly this year has flown by.
A year filled with joy & love.

From the first moment I saw Ethan my heart was

overflowing with so much love for this sweet little boy.

Now he's a big boy . . .

Happy Birthday, Ethan!
Nana & Papaw love you so much!

Spring Fever . . .

Definition of "Spring Fever" . . .

A feeling of restlessness and excitement. . .

Even though it's 27 degrees this morning

I have a bad case of spring fever!

I'm anxiously on the lookout for the first signs of spring.

robins pecking in the grass . . .

forsythia blooming with sunny yellow . . .

Oklahoma Redbuds showing their beauty . . .

The first day of spring is just 25 days away.
Can't end this post without the lyrics for this song.

Might As Well Be Spring
Lyrics by: Oscar Hammerstein II
Music by: Richard Rodgers
From the film: State Fair 1945

I'm as restless as a willow in a windstorm,
I'm as jumpy as puppet on a string
I'd say that I had spring fever,
but I know it isn't spring
I am starry eyed and vaguely discontented,
like a nightingale without a song to sing
O why should I have spring fever,
when it isn't even spring
I keep wishing I were someone else,
walking down a strange new street
hearing words that I've never heard
from a man I've yet to meet
I'm as busy as spider spinning daydreams,
I'm as giddy as a baby on a swing
I haven't seen a crocus or a rosebud,
or a robin on the wing
But I feel so gay in a melancholy way,
that it might as well be spring
It might as well be spring.

Faux Shopping . . .

When I was a teenager I

liked to do pretend shopping from the

JC Penney & Sears catalogs.

My sister & I called it 'pick'.

As we turned the pages we

would guess which item the other

person liked best.

Don't you love these 70s styles?

Large collars & empire waist lines.

Short hemlines were popular.

These Neiman Marcus catalogs arrived

in the mail this week.

Do you like the diamond key necklaces
ranging in price from $575 to $1,600
or the sterling silver plated brass chain accessories
with Swarovski crystal detail?

I pick the $1,495 silver Gucci bag from this page!

Faux shopping is fun & very easy on the budget!

Batman Baby . . .

We've had beautiful weather the last two days.

Yesterday Kari took Ethan out for

a walk in our neighborhood.

Batman baby . . .

He always gets cute
comments when he's wearing the hat.

It's hard to believe he's turning one year old

a week from today!

George & Abe . . .

When I think of George & Abe the first thoughts that

come to my mind are cherry tree & log cabin.

When I was in elementary school we were

taught the little stories about Washington chopping

down a cherry tree & Lincoln living in a log cabin

and teaching himself to read.

Here are some quotes from these great presidents.

" America will never be destroyed from the outside.

If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

" It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible. "

I wonder what these wise men would have to say
about our country today?

The Greatest Of These . . .

Happy Valentine's Day !

Friday Show And Tell . . .

Welcome to another . . .

Take a look at this recipe book

that belonged to my mother.

The copyright is 1947, one year

before my parents were married.

I remember my mother using this a lot

when I was growing up.

I also remember thinking how yellowed and old

the pages looked.

The food pictures are very retro.

There are so many categories.

I love to read these handwritten

recipes that Mother wrote on the blank pages.

Here are a few of the unusual recipes.

Anyone in the mood for Creamed Lamb?

Or maybe you would prefer

Scalloped Fish and Lima Beans.

I'm So Lucky . . .

So far I've been very lucky in 2010!

I won two giveaways in January!

Both packages arrived on the same day,

which really brightened my day!

I want to say a big thank you to the following ladies . . .

Shelley @http://logcabininmichigan.blogspot.com/
for sending me this pretty tote bag.
I plan on using it for Ethan's books.

Also . . .

Paula @http://macspj.blogspot.com/
I'm going to use this sweet little cupcake
purse for saving mad money!

Thanks again friends for being so generous!

By the way . . .
Yesterday's snowstorm treated us to some

beautifully large snowflakes.

Fortunately, the 2 inches we received

quickly melted away!

Whew, what a relief!

#3 . . .

Our 3rd snowstorm of the winter arrived this morning!

We may get up to 6 inches!

I know, I know, it seems like most of

my posts have been about the weather!

I do love snow, but this

is getting to be ridiculous!

All of you that live in regions that receive

lots of snow are probably used to the whole routine.

However, here in Oklahoma this is very unusual.

We're about to break the record for snowfall

during one winter.

God's Beautiful World . . .

Even the sparrows and swallows are welcome

to come and nest among your alters

and there have their young,

O Lord of heaven's armies,

my King and my God!

Psalm 84:3

All over the earth, you can see the artistry of God.

Mountains reach up toward the sky,

majestically pointing toward their Creator~

their snow-capped peaks offering silent praise.

Farmers' fields of grain wave to the King of Kings.

All the earth grows tall,

as if reaching up to receive His touch.

Animals of every kind show gratitude to their Maker.

Birds sing, fireflies dance, and little furry

creatures scurry in a fast festivity of life.

God created nature for His glory, and when you look,

you see a glimpse of His greatness.

It is a reflection of an even greater glory

that of His presence in the life of a human being like you.

Nature is but a name for an effect whose cause is God.

Friday Show And Tell . . .

I haven't posted a 'Friday Show & Tell'

in quite sometime.

Today I'm sharing a fond childhood memory.

I told you about this song last year in January,

and I just couldn't resist sharing it again.

I don't remember how old I was when I

heard this cute song on TV.

Maybe it's one of the reasons I love snow!

It had a catchy little tune . . .

it was sung by Rosemary Clooney . . .

here's Suzy dressed in her snow-white gown . . .

Enjoy the song!

Here comes Suzy Snowflake,

Dressed in a snow-white gown,
Tap, tap, tappin' at your windowpane

To tell you she's in town.

Here comes Suzy Snowflake;

Soon you will hear her say,

"Come out ev'ryone and play with me;

I haven't long to stay.

If you want to make a snowman,

I'll help you make one, two, three.

If you wanna take a sleigh ride, The ride's on me."

Here comes Suzy Snowflake;

Look at her tumblin' down,

Bringing joy to ev'ry girl and boy;

Suzy's come to town.
