I Love Dollar Tree

Who besides me loves $ Tree?
There are always some unexpected great deals to be found.
This is what I found on one of my recent trips.
Storage cubes in green & white.
They're perfect for storing the grand kids' books & toys in my library corner.
I also found some great food items.
Two sizes of Hormel Pepperoni.
10 stand 'n stuff taco shells.
Lasagna (don't know why the package says Lasagne) that doesn't need to be boiled.  What a cool idea!

I also bought some greeting cards.  Did you know that $ Tree has cards 2 for a dollar & some for one dollar?

Our grand kids love buying toys at $ Tree.
What do you buy when you shop $ Tree.?

The kids gave me some awesome pictures of our grand kiddos for Mother's Day & of course I love them.
I did a little shopping at $ Tree yesterday & found some frames for the pics.

Party Time

Another month has passed in the blink of the eye, which means it's time to party with Vee.
Click on picture to find Vee's blog.

Since this is Memorial Day weekend, I chose a patriotic theme for my note cards.
All of these photos are from posts in 2013.
Welcome to our patriotic home.

Cock A Doodle Doo

A few weeks ago my 5 year old grandson asked me when I was going to decorate for Rooster Days.
Rooster Days is an annual festival that has been celebrated for 83 years in the town where my son's family lives.  I was surprised that he asked me this question.  He knows that I decorate for all the seasons & holidays so I guess he thought I would be decorating for Rooster Days.  Of course!  Why not?
I found a pic of the logo for the festival on line, printed it & framed it in a garage sale frame I recently found.
This flea market rooster that I found in Branson several years ago was a perfect fit with the framed pic.
I added some raffia for a farm feel.
We made a rooster pendant banner with a rooster image I found on Google.
We also made a pendant banner for them to use at their house.

My son & daughter in law took the kids to the Rooster Days festival on Friday night & the parade Saturday.  They had a great time.

The next mantel project will be decorating for Memorial Day weekend.  Of course I'll ask Ethan & Emma to help me deocrate the house.  I think we've started a tradition.  So much fun!

Words That Inspire

Happy Mother's Day
I miss my Mother every day & especially on Mother's Day.
This verse fits my Mother to a T.

She opens her mouth with wisdom,
and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
She looks well to the ways of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Proverbs 31:26-27

She was always busy providing for us in every way.  Cooking, cleaning, sewing & gardening.  She always took time to help us, nurture us, comfort us & teach us about the Lord.
She truly was a Proverbs 31 woman.

Wishing you a wonderful Mother's Day . . .

Sunday Outing

We had fun making memories with our grandson, Ethan, Sunday afternoon.
Little, Emma, was sick & couldn't go with us.  We sure missed her.
We started out with ice cream.
Next, when I asked him what he had for lunch, he said, "Nothing,"  I knew that couldn't be true, but I asked if he would like a hamburger.  His eyes lit up & he said "Yes!"
Papaw ordered him a kids burger, fries & chocolate shake.
We took this pic while we were waiting on the burger.
He wasted no time gobbling up every bit of his meal.
Yummy fry dipped in ketchup .
Enjoying his chocolate shake.

Our next stop was $ Tree.
Ethan loves to shop.  If we had let him, he would have filled our basket to the top.  He chose 2 action figures & a doll for little sis.  He said he wanted to buy something for her to make her feel better.

I loved our Sunday outing of making memories.  Next time Emma will join us.

Saturday Snapshots

Here are just a few snapshots from this morning.
Easter boxes waiting for a trip back to the attic.
Emma's red cowboy boots.
April showers bring May flowers.
Blueberry pancakes for breakfast!

After breakfast we shopped for a couple of hours at our favorite place, Target.  Next was dinner at Aubelo's.  Yum, yum, Mexican food at its finest!

Last night we watched Frozen.  My first time, their 2nd.
I loved everything about the movie. The songs are so singable & the story line teaches some great life lessons. I want to watch it again.

It has been so much fun having Kari & the Littles staying here.  Making memories is so much fun!
Papaw & Bobby have been in Texas, making memories of their own at the Bob Wills birthday bash.  They're driving back tonight.  Sure hope they avoid stormy weather.

Hope you're having a super weekend!

2 Great New Recipes

I tried 2 new recipes from Pinterest this past weekend.  I'm always afraid to try new recipes for a holiday meal, but these turned out great & were really delicious.

This is the last piece.
The three berries, strawberry, blueberry & raspberry are such a great combination.

Skinny Chicken & Broccoli Alfredo
Kari & I whipped this together for our evening meal on Sunday night.
We liked it very much.  In fact, Ethan loved it so much he asked to take home the leftovers.  He also asked me when I was going to make Chicken Pot Pie again.
Now, that means success to me!
Click here for my Chicken Pot Pie recipe.

If you try either of these, let me know what you think.

Easter 2014

Our Easter celebration was filled with food, chocolate, eggs, & more chocolate.
The littles proudly showing off the eggs they found during our front yard/back yard egg hunt.  The eggs were filled with money & chocolates.

Emma had so much fun opening each egg.  Everytime she opened one she would announce with delight, "More money!" or "More candy!"

Ethan, checking out his pail of Easter goodies from Nana & Papaw.

The kids kept hiding away under tables & the piano to eat chocolates.
Emma was sneaky, she managed to eat the icing off 6 cupcakes & eat 1/2 of 2 cupcakes.
I need to check with Kari to find out if they've come down from their sugary Easter high.

It's rainy here today.  Perfect day for staying in & catching up with a few chores.  I might take a nap, too.

Words That Inspire . . .

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope
through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading,
kept in heaven for you,
1 Peter 1:3-4

Wishing you a joyous Resurrection Sunday . . .

Easter Eve

Happy Easter Eve!
Thoughts about what Easter is really all about are on my mind.
I received word yesterday that my cousin, Mary Lou, passed away.
She was ready to go.  Because of the resurrection we know she is in heaven.
We've been busy shopping for Easter dinner & the egg hunt.
Hubby had to got to work this afternoon.  Bummer!
It's time for me to fill some Easter eggs.

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend.
