Easy Squash Dish . . .

Our little 'Victory Garden' has been giving us lots of yellow squash.
I decided to do an experimental recipe.

Spray casserole dish with Pam.
Line dish with one layer of sliced squash.
Add in this order . . .
Salt
Pepper
onion flakes
bread crumbs
pats of butter
shredded cheese of your choice
I used Monterey Jack
bake at 375 degrees
for 20 to 25 minutes
until brown
Hubby and I loved it!
Very tasty!
So good that I made it again!

If you decide to try this recipe let me know what you think.

Discover Oklahoma . . .

Woolaroc Museum

Woolaroc is located in the Osage Hills of Northeastern Oklahoma on Oklahoma State Highway 123 about 12 miles southwest of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and 45 miles north of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Woolaroc was established in 1925 as the ranch retreat of oilman Frank Phillips. The ranch is a 3700 acre wildlife preserve, home to many species of native and exotic wildlife, such as buffalo, elk and longhorn cattle. Woolaroc is also a museum with a collection of western art and artifacts, American Indian material, and one of the largest collections of Colt firearms in the world. Woolaroc features a nature trail and two living history areas inviting you to experience the natural environment of Woolaroc, the life in a pre-Civil War 1840’s mountain man camp and an early-day oil lease.

Woolaroc is a wonderful place to spend the day.
I have visited several times through the years
with family, friends, & school field trips.

The entrance is made of beautiful mosiac tile work.

The Frank Phillips lodge is so fascinating.
There's a lot to see in each room.

This is a great day trip for you Okies.
If any of you out of state bloggers ever make it
to Oklahoma put this on your list of places to visit.

Happy Monday everyone!

He Loves It . . .

It's evident that Ethan loves music.

He loves to play the piano.
A few days ago hubby was flipping through
TV channels and stopped on this . . .

Ethan stopped playing with his toys and was
mesmerized by the singers.
It held his attention for quite some time.
When a new song began he would stop and listen.
Maybe he will grow up and sing in a southern gospel group,
or even take Bill Gaither's place!
Papaw would love that!

Discover Oklahoma . . .

Here's another Oklahoma attraction you might want to visit.

You'll find this place on Route 66 near Edmond, OK.

Arcadia is located 15 miles North of Oklahoma City on Historic Route 66. It is 6 miles East of Interstate 35 (Exit #141).

One of the places you'll want to visit is the historical Round Barn.

The barn has been totally restored.

Several years ago we stopped by for a tour.
Very impressive!

A few weeks ago we stopped by another place in Arcadia.

Pops is Food, Fuel and Fizz. It's the effervescent essence of Route 66: colorful, free-wheeling, fun. POPS answers the call of the road: our unquenchable thirst for adventure.

If you're looking for your favorite soft drink or
wanting to find something new or different you'll find it here.

Get your kicks on Route 66!!

Vacation Recap . . .

Our vacation to

was fun and relaxing.

We always enjoy spending time in Branson.
Usually this time of year the temperatures are warm and mild.
The heat index was around 106, very extreme!
We decided to skip our visit to Silver Dollar City and come back before Christmas to
see the decorations and lights.

Our favorite place to stay!

Lots of great places to shop!

Bobby, Ethan, and Kari
in the gigantic rocker at Grand Village.

Papaw and Ethan at
the Butterfly Palace.

First pizza experience for Ethan.

Also his first swim.

On the way home Friday we visited
Laura Ingalls Wilder's
home in Mansfield, MO.
Ethan wasn't interested in taking the tour
so he chilled in the car with us.

We stopped at McDonalds in Seymour, Mo.
We were so surprised to see several Amish
buggies on the road.
This couple was leaving as we arrived.
The woman is holding a baby.
No car seat here!

Now he's giving her an ice-cream cone.

Ready to head home.

Hope you're ready to enjoy your 4th of July weekend!
