Grow Your Blog Party

Thank you, Vicki, for being our hostess today!

Hello, my name is, Carol. I'm so glad you stopped by for a visit today.  I started blogging after I retired from teaching elementary school in 2008, I have been blessed to meet so many wonderful bloggers. They inspire me in so many ways.  Even though I've never met some of them face to face I count them as friends.
Last year I made it a goal to blog all 365 days. I thought it would be fun to see if my brain could think of something to share each day.  I reached my goal & I'm trying to repeat that goal in 2013.
I look forward to following your blog.  I hope you'll follow me, too.
You can follow me on Pinterest & see the things that interest me.

Today I'm working on a little project to add to my winter mantel.
I hope you'll come back Monday to check it out!

Winter Mantel

The marinara sauce that I made yesterday was delicious!  Next time I will double the recipe so I can keep a big jar in the fridge or freezer.

Winter 2012 Mantel

We do not live in ski country . . .
but I like to decorate for winter . . .
with Grandma Ruby's ski people.
I showed them in this post last year.
I kept this from the Christmas mantel.
I like the winter red berries.
Now that the ski people have arrived, maybe they will bring a little snow our way.
Maybe I need to make a snow banner for the mantel.
Stay tuned . . .

Tried & True & Something New

The kids are coming over for dinner tonight.
We're having 'make your own French bread pizzas'.
Simply cut the bread in half like a hot dog bun, add pizza sauce, cheese & any topping you want.
Turkey pepperoni, onions, sweet peppers, jalapenos.
They can also make their own salad with romaine lettuce, tomatoes, onions & cucumbers.

Now for something tried & true, homemade bread sticks.
I have made these several times before. Very easy because you use the bread machine to mix the dough.
Trust me, they are delicious.
I found the recipe on Pinterest.  I think I've shared this recipe before.

To go along with the bread sticks I'm trying something new.
Crock pot marinara sauce.
I also found this recipe on Pinterest.

Fingers crossed that this will pass inspection by the family!
I'll let you know tomorrow.

Sock It To Me Baby

Do you remember these pans?
This Bundt cake pan belonged to my Mother.
The harvest gold color was so popular during the 60s & 70s.
My Mother baked many a sock it to me cake in this pan.
I decided to bake one, Sunday afternoon.
I found the recipe on Pinterest.
Click on the picture for the recipe.
Sock it to me bundt cake
But instead of using my Mother's pan I decided to bake 4 little cakes in this pan.
I baked them a little too long.
Despite being a little dry it tastes very good.
Next time I will use the bundt pan.
Have you ever eaten sock it to me cake?

Words That Inspire

“Come now, let us settle the matter,”
    says the Lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
    they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
    they shall be like wool.

Isaiah 1:18
New International Version (NIV)

Wishing you a safe & warm Sunday . . .

Baking Inspiration

Even though I shouldn't eat sweets (I'm a diabetic), I feel inspired to bake something this weekend.
Here's my chippy cabinet full of things to help me bake something.
Maybe I'll bake an apple pie . . .
or some bread in these heart shaped pottery pieces . . .
mini bundt cakes sound good, too!
Aunt Bee has lots of yummy recipes.
I'm leaning towards an apple pie, maybe apple dumplings.
Come back Monday to see what I baked.
