Thankful For My Haven

Day 16 of Thanksgiving . . .
I'm thankful for my home.
It is a comfortable haven in all seasons.
Fall
Winter
Spring & Summer

We add a little warmth to our master bedroom to take the chill out of the room on cold winter days & nights.
We ordered this electric stove heater from QVC.
I love the faux flame that we can have on even when we're not using the heat settings.
Go to QVC.com, item # V31156, if you're interested in buying one for your home.

Thankful For The "Littles"

Day #13 of Thanksgiving . . .
I'm so thankful for the "Littles" in our family.
My grandkids are the apple of my eye!
Ethan
 Emma

Sometimes their cousin Levi comes with them to play at our house.
I love having them visit!

My great-nieces . . .
Elise & Madison
Iris

When I see their smiling faces it makes me so happy & hopeful for the future.

***********************************************
I have to share some pictures of our beautiful tree taken the last 2 days.
Sunday was a rainy day.
The red popped against the grey sky.

Today it looked like it was on fire in the sunlight.
We'll see if the leaves can hang on until Thanksgiving day.

Pumpkin Muffins

Day 9 of Thanksgiving . . .
I'm so thankful for my parents, Gerald & Helen.
They showed me how to work hard, love God & others, & so much more.
I miss them so much!
****************************************************
Kari & the grandkids came over to spend the day with me yesterday.
We had 'pigs in the blanket' for lunch & pot roast, carrots & potatoes for dinner.
Kari & I tried a new recipe for dessert, Pumpkin Poppers.
Yep, you guessed it, I found the recipe on Pinterest.
Here's the recipe.
Instead of making mini muffins we decided to make regular size muffins, I guess this recipe should be called Pumpkin Muffins for us.  Next time I will make the mini version.
They are delicious.  When Ethan saw them cooling on the cake stand.he grabbed one when we weren't looking & started munching.  So funny!

Happy Friday to you all!  Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Thanksgiving Banners

Day 8 of Thanksgiving . . .
I'm thankful for "freedom from want".
This iconic image of Thanksgiving Day, by Norman Rockwell, was actually one of four prints in his "Four Freedoms" series, which was inspired by President Franklin Roosevelt's 1942 "Four Freedoms" speech. This painting is entitled "Freedom From Want." March 6,1943.

I got crafty yesterday making 2 banners for Thanksgiving.
I found the free printable letters on Pinterest.
FREE Printable Letter Banners at Shanty-2-Chic.com! Print a banner for any holiday, party or room for FREE!!! LOVE these!!
Here's the "thankful" banner I made for the mantel.

I also made a "gather" banner for the dining room.
The letters were aged by rubbing on brown shoe polish with a paper towel.
After seeing how great the shoe polish worked I think I'm going to do the same on the "thankful" banner.

Can you believe Thanksgiving is 2 weeks from today?

Thankful For Friends

Day 7 of Thanksgiving . . .
I'm thankful for my friends.
Friends from my past who have gone on to heaven.
Friends who are still present.
They encourage me.
My friend, Belva invited me to a retired teacher's luncheon on Monday.
Thank you Belva!
It was so much fun!

Some friends I have never meet in person.  I have met these friends through blogging & Facebook.
You know who you are.
Thank you all for being my friend!
