Every Heart Beats True

Lady Liberty

You're a Grand Old Flag
by George M. Cohan

You're a grand old flag,
You're a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.
You're the emblem of
The land I love.
The home of the free and the brave.
Ev'ry heart beats true
'neath the Red, White and Blue,
Where there's never a boast or brag.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the grand old flag.
Fly it proudly!
You're a grand old flag,
You're a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.
You're the emblem of
The land I love.
The home of the free and the brave.
America, America, God shed His grace on thee
Ev'ry heart beats true
'neath the Red, White and Blue,
Where there's never a boast or brag.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the grand old flag.

A Victory & A Verdict

It was a "thunder"ous victory last night for the
OKC thunder over the Miami Heat.
105-94
Woo hoo!

Yesterday, Kari brought the grandkids & her nephew, Levi, who she babysits, over for lunch and an afternoon of playtime.
Her sister, Kim (Levi's Mommy),
joined us during her lunch break.
I served salad, Sam's roasted chicken, mac & cheese & parmesan bread.
Now for the verdict on two recipes I made from Pinterest.
Delicious!  I will be making this again.
This needs to be tweaked a little.
It was too dry. The taste was okay, but needs more seasoning.
I think I will reduce the cook time to 2 hours & use larger noodles next time.
You couldn't even tell that I used elbow macaroni.
It looked more like a cheese casserole instead of mac & cheese.

Thanks for visiting today, hope your week is going well!

Pinteresting Things I Want To Try This Week

I've confessed this before, I'm addicted to Pinterest!
It inspires me to get creative & try new things.
Here are a few of the Pinterest ideas I want to try this week.
Click on the pictures to take you to the link for the instructions.

Parmesan Herb Bread
You make this in a bread machine!

Since my little 'Batman grandson' loves mac & cheese
I'm going to try this crock pot version of the yummy stuff.

Now for something sweet!
Weight Watchers Lemon Bars

I want to get crafty & make this banner for Father's Day.

Weekly Words To Live By #104

Even when it's difficult to see
God at work in you circumstances,
His faithfulness is your assurance
that He's not only active and involved,
but He's using the situation to bring good into your life.

lies eternal security."

Saturday Snapshots

Hubby and son are out & about doing fun stuff
 with cars today.
They're scoping out the cars at the 40th
Leake Car Show & Auction at the Tulsa Fairgrounds.

I'm content here at home puttering around.
I started my morning with my Pioneer Woman inspired breakfast.
I call it egg-in-a basket.
She says you can call it many names like
frog-in-a-hole, bird's nest egg, or pop eyes.
This is the bread I used.
I toast the circle cutouts on the sides of the pan while the eggs are cooking.
The mini toast circles are delicious with a little
Smucker's sugar free red raspberry preserves.

Here are a few cute pictures of the grandkids from last night.

Our Patriotic Home

I enjoy decorating our home for all holidays.
I call all holiday decor "bling".
I started adding patriotic bling for Memorial Day.

Here are a few flag displays around our patriotic home.
These are the flags we put around our front yard for patriotic celebrations.
They'll go out again on the 14th for Flag Day.
front door flag
kitchen table flowers & flag
entry table
I bought this 1917 calendar plate at an antique store in Fairland, Ok.
It says . . .
A.W. DeNeen
Groceries & Meats
St. Joseph, MO.

I'll be adding more patriotic bling before July 4th.

Gully Washer

Last night's storm was a gully washer!
Definition of a gully washer . . .
"A torrential rain that causes ditches to overflow creating
flash floods on streets and roadways."
When I finally went to bed after 1:00 AM this morning the wind, lightening & heavy rain started.
The storm continued for several hours.
Many homes here in Tulsa lost power, thankfully not us.
The red bud tree outside the brick wall looks a little bedraggled this morning.
Our backyard is filled with leaves from the red bud.
One of our hummingbird feeders is empty after the wind whipped it around.
Our neighbor's backyard.

When I opened to front door to take a look I heard the sound of a saw.
Our neighbor up the street was working on this limb that broke off his tree.

We still have dark, grey skies this morning.
I should go out & pick up leaves, but I think I'll just have another cup of coffee & read the paper.

So glad you stopped by!
Have a great day!
