Searching For Autumn Colors . . .

Even though it's October 1st the leaves on the trees here in Northeastern Oklahoma
have not shown their colors of Autumn yet.
Within the next few weeks we will hopefully see the beauty
of the season in our foliage.
I say this because I'm hoping the severe drought we had
this summer will not rob us of the wonderful colors.
My sister, Susan, who lives in the Kansas City area, sent me an email on Thursday.
She does not have a blog, but she writes some of the best thoughts that she shares in emails.
With her permission I'm posting her email.

Taking a zig-zag through town yesterday, I spied the fall colors starting to make an appearance around the landscape.  My usual thrill from seeing fall color is as familiar as an old friend.  Turning the corner brings hope of seeing more trees that have begun the change from God's paint brush.  Hues that speak to me, myself and I.  We three happen to agree on most things, especially when fall shows off in ways that a peacock take hints from.  I sometime utter my delight out loud and I, myself or me will confirm. : )

Something about the seasonal changes bring memories of comfortable, secure and cozy moments tucked safely in the timeline of years past.... geese flying in a 'V' shape southward.... aroma of apple dumplings, caramel corn, and hot cocoa.... warm jackets.... cold nose.... piles of leaves.... sitting on the porch swing with a blanket.... the glow from a candle inside the friendly jack-o-lantern.... etc.

Take time to see the scenery from God's paint brush, His touch is there are you looking?

Thank you, Susan for sharing your thoughts on Autumn.

Have fall colors arrived in your neck of the woods yet?

I have seen hints that they are on their way...but not much yet. The leaves are coming down...brown...hopefully they are few and more will change to red, orange and yellow.

What lovely words your sister wrote.

Beautiful mosaic of the very best of autumn's images. Your sister need to fire up a blog. She writes beautifully.

No color here to speak of and it seems that our tropical storm of a month ago is responsible. The leaves just turn brown and drop. Not what we're used to at all.

Hi, Carol! I haven't visited in a while, hope you have been well! And I must say: Your sister is a poet! What a lovely way of writing that she has. I'd have written: "It's pretty out here, God did good." ;)
Enjoy the changing leaves, Carol!
Best,
Gloria

Beautifully written. Your sister should have her own blog. I am hoping the fall foilage won't be a disappointment in my neck of the woods too.

Hi Carol! Oh, love your pretty mosaic! It's actually in the low 80s here and feels so much better. A little Fallish even! :)
Oh, I'm loving Pinterest. Sometimes I get aggravated at it because it will freeze up and all the pins won't post! But I keep pinning!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Your sister definitely needs to blog! I'd be first in line to follow it. I've seen just the tiniest glimpse of Fall colors around here. Like you, I hope the dry weather we've had (and from what I understand will last clear through December) doesn't hinder the beautiful Autumn colors I love so much.

Something about fall brings out the child in us all---makes us want to "go home" again. I'm away from home now so not sure how the leaves are doing. I suspect they are at peak color.

It IS beautiful in your part of the world too. We just returned (to Texas) from a vacation in north west Arkansas/north east Oklahoma. It was lovely and the mountains were awesome! We will not have any pretty colors this year due to the drought and blazing temperatures. Even our evergreens are sickly looking.
Enjoy your autumn!
