Restored Treasures . . .

Last week my high energy, younger sister, Susan, got busy restoring some of my treasures that I have been wanting to re-do for a long time.
Disclaimer . . . I forgot to take any before pictures . . . shame on me!

Here is a picture of me on my 1st birthday with the little rocker
my grandparents, Luther and Minnie, gave me.
I sat in this rocker until I was about 9 years old.
Through the years the seat separated and split and the
spindles became loose.
Susan sanded, glued, and sealed the wood with spray matte varnish.

Now, the grandkids can enjoy rocking when they visit.

This little vanity seat has been in my attic for years.
My parents bought it with Green Stamps for my 10th or 11th birthday.
It was gold and had a pink cushion.
Susan sanded it and sprayed it black.
Believe it or not the black spray paint has been stored in my garage
for years and it was still good!

I've had this little chest for about 20 years.
I used it for a long time in my sewing room to store notions.
Its original color was a red color that had faded.
The drawer pulls were chunky hearts and there
was a heart cutout at the top.
We shopped for new drawer knobs at Hobby Lobby.
I could not sustify paying $24.00 for knobs.
In the jewelry making section we found a strand of beads for $4.99.
We glued them on after all of us sanded to give the chest a worn look.
Also bought the fluer de lis at Hobby Lobby.
Perfect cover for the country heart cutout.

The little drawers are perfect for storing some cute cloth napkins Susan made.

Gosh, if Susan lived closer there's no telling what other projects
I could accomplish!
Thank you sis for your hard work and inspiration!

That is awesome! I loved all your projects. I think that it is so cool to restore things especially when they have so many memories behind them.

What a good gift that was for your sister to give you....helping with all your projects...It really is a lot more fun with someone else. Tell me who was who in your pictures on the last post of you and your sisters. Trish
