The first flag day was June 14, 1777. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States, which happened on that day in 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress.
In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation that officially established June 14 as Flag Day; in August 1949, National Flag Day was established by an Act of Congress.

Great post! I love our flag!
Neat post Carol. :)
I sure did love seeing all the flags flying around our town today.
Yay for flag day!!
I saw it was flag day on the calendar, and promptly put our flag out. I was hoping to see other flags in the neighborhood, but I didn't.... boo.
We put our flag out each morning, and bring it in each evening.
There is something so quaint, and patriotic about a house with a flag :)
Have a great week, my friend.
