Happy May Day

Happy May Day!
Did you ever do the May pole dance in school?
I have a vague memory of the activity.

Did you ever hang a May Day flower basket on someone's door knob?
I remember doing this when I was very young.

Hubby & I planted flowers Tuesday evening.
Flowers & ferns are on the deck.
We won't hang the ferns until the danger of a freeze on Thursday night is behind us.
We'll probably have to cover the flowers in the front flowerbed.
Crazy weather!

Looks so pretty Carol! You know geraniums are my very favorite. It's going to get to 39 here tonight and I'll be covering things too.

It does look wonderful and I suppose that crazy weather is heading east... No planting here until the end of May so hopefully, by that time...

I do remember doing the Maypole dance once. I remember doing May baskets for the teachers, which were filled with candy and could be presented any day in May, though it originally was intended for the first of May. I don't think that children do this anymore. Of course, these things vary from one part of the country to the other.

Your flowers look very nice.
I remember hanging a paper basket with weed flowers in it on the scary house on Cherry street between home and school. I think a friend dared me to do it.

I have done a May pole dance and we always made May baskets in school. I love your blog. It is such a warm and friendly spot and I think that we have a lot in common, including being married for 37 years. I am your newest follower, and I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to follow me back. My blog is about all the many things that bring me joy. Everything from art, sewing, gardening, spending time with family and friends, music . . . everyday brings with it blessings . . . just some days you have to look a little bit harder to find them :) Have a lovely day . . . hope to get a visit, Connie :)

Wow, you guys are having some crazy weather. We are not putty our tender plants out until May 15th. That is the magic date around here for no chance of frost :)
