Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day
My Daddy, holding our son, 1981.
Miss him every day.
Hubby & our son, 1983.
Son, Bobby, with our sweet grands.

A Father Is:
There in every memory
See his love and care
Strength and hands to count on
Freely he does share
Provider, toil so faithfully
To make our dreams come true
Give strong and tender discipline
Though it is hard to do
A Father is God's chosen one
To lead the family
And point it to His will for life
Of love and harmony...

Saturday Snapshots

I'm sharing some pretty blooms with you today from our house.
"Life's little blessings
Are gigantic in their worth
Things we take for granted
Since the beginning of our birth.

Take the time to smell the flowers
As you go along your way
Be thankful for your bounty
At the end of each new day."

Happy weekend everyone!

Old Glory Day

Here's a history lesson about Flag Day.
In the United States, Flag Day is celebrated on June 14. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States, which happened that day by resolution of the Second Continental Congress in 1777.In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation that officially established June 14 as Flag Day; in August 1949, National Flag Day was established by an Act of Congress.Flag Day is not an official federal holiday, though on June 14, 1937, Pennsylvania became the first (and only) U.S. state to celebrate Flag Day as a state holiday.

What if Betsy Ross had said,
"I'm just too busy to take on another sewing project."?
We proudly wave Old Glory at our front door.

Happy Flag Day!

Goodwill Finds

Tuesday after having lunch with my son I decided to swing by the Goodwill store near my house.
I don't go to Goodwill very often, but when I do, I have high hopes of finding some great deals in the housewares section.  My blog friends, Marty & Debbie always find some gems when they go GW shopping.  I think their stores must be bigger than those in the Tulsa area.
I did find a couple of things that made it into my shopping cart.
This little $3.00 kitchen crock is a great addition for my utensil storage.
This $1.99 vintage cut glass dish immediately caught my eye.
I have one just like it that belonged to my Grandma Ruby.
I use it on my bathroom vanity.
Now Hubby has one on his side.
We're Twinkies!

Do you shop Goodwill?  What day do think is the best time shop?

Deals & Discoveries

While we shopped at Big Lots for pots we also found several deals.
This $20.00 water slide will be fun for the grandkids.
I discovered some interesting items in the food section.
Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Shortbread Cookie Mix & Wild and Brown Rice.
I looked the company up on the internet.
Wow, they have a great line of natural & gluten free products.
I discovered that I got some great bargains.
If you order the cookie mix from them you pay $13.77.  I paid $3.50.  The rice is $16.77.  I paid $4.00.
Big Lots has other products in the Bob's Red Mill line.  I'll be going back to buy more.

Do you shop Big Lots?  I'd like to hear about what you've bought.

Vintage PJs

Before the kids went home Thursday night after our family dinner/Kari's birthday party, the grandkids took baths.  They love splashing around in our big bathtub.
Ethan enjoyed his bubble bath.
Here's Ethan wearing his Daddy's vintage PJs.
Recently, when I was cleaning out a closet I found some PJs that my Mother made for Bobby when he was Ethan's age.  I was pleasantly surprised that they all were in good shape.  The elastic in the waistbands were still good.  They're perfect for summertime.  My Mother would be so thrilled to see her great grandson wearing the PJs she made his Daddy 28 years ago.

We Had A Good Time

Last night was the first of our twice a month family dinners.  I'm hoping this will be a tradition.
We celebrated Kari's birthday which will be tomorrow.
Emma enjoying strawberries.
The pink lemonade cake was a hit!  Bobby ate 2 pieces & he usually doesn't like cake.
Super easy to make.  Yellow cake mix, lemon juice from 1/2 a lemon, and pink food coloring.  Baked in a bundt pan. 1 can pink lemonade icing plus juice from 1/2 lemon.  It was super moist.
Kari blowing out the candles.

We had a good time!

Breakfast Oatmeal & Strawberries

Almost every morning I eat oatmeal & strawberries for breakfast.
I'm a creature of habit.  Except on Saturday morning when Hubby & I usually eat at our favorite restaurant.  Then, I splurge & have a veggie omelet with cheese, wheat toast & fruit.
1/2 cup oats
(I buy the huge 2 bag box at Sam's.  It lasts a long time.)
1 teaspoon Splenda brown sugar
1 cup water
Sap it in the microwave for 1 minute & 20 seconds.
3 strawberries
2 Mini Moo's half & half
Yummy!
Sticks to my ribs!

What's your go to breakfast?
