Random Monday Memories #16 . . .

We love making memories with our family.
We were given free passes
to see Cars 2 on Saturday morning.

This was Ethan's first movie in a theater.
Before the movie started he was looking around
at all the people coming in to find seats.
We weren't sure how he would react when the lights
went off and the previews began.
He spent the entire movie sitting on Mommy or Daddy's lap
watching all the action.

We had a great time.
Maybe we'll see the new Smurf movie when
it comes out in a few weeks.

Have a marvelous Monday!
Stay cool!

Weekly Words To Live By #55 . . .

I love old hymns.
I grew up on them.
Singing them at church.
Playing them on the piano.
The lyrics say so much.

This is one of my favorites.

 Great Is Thy Faithfulness

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.

Great is Thy  faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Enjoy your day friends and family!

Friday Show & Tell . . .

It's been quite some time since I've posted
a Friday Show & Tell.
Here are some pictures showing events in May & June.

My sister, Susan, and brother-in-law, Mike visited on
Memorial weekend to help Bobby and Kari
move into their new home.
They presented Ethan with his own slide to enjoy
in the new backyard.

Susan and I stumbled across an amazing curtain bargain
at the J.C. Penney store.
Valances and panels for $2.97 each!
Click on the picture to get a good look at the price tags.
I bought enough for 8 windows in Bobby and Kari's new house.

Some of the curtains needed to be hemmed
and Susan was nice enough to do all the work.
Thanks Sis!

Bob had a wonderful Father's Day.
He is so proud to be Papaw to two sweet babies!

Is it getting hot in your neck of the woods?
It has been very, very hot here in northeastern Oklahoma.
Thankfully, we have been getting enough rain
to keep things nice and green.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Random Monday Memories #15 . . .

~Childhood Summer Memories ~

Click on my playlist play button to hear today's song selection
Theme from A Summer Place. . .

Catching lightning bugs . . .

The best place to catch lightning bugs was in the empty lot
next to our neighbor's house on Broadway Street.
It seemed to me that there were hundred of fireflies
to be chased and caught.

Star gazing . . .

We would spend time laying on a quilt in the backyard
 looking for the big and little dipper and shooting stars.

Front porch swing . . .

Daytime in the porch swing was a great place to see
who was driving or walking by our house.
You knew the mailman was coming when you heard
his cheerful whistling.
Daddy would join us at night to tell stories while we
waited to see if the street sweeper would come by.

Vacation Bible School . . .

VBS was 2 weeks filled with fun and learning.
Memorizing Bible verses, singing, arts and crafts,
seeing your friends, and enjoying cookies and Koolaid.

 Summer reading . . .
I loved reading books for the summer reading
program at our library.
The highlight was the bicycle parade downtown.
we lined up at the train depot and rode our  decorated
bikes to the library lawn where we ate popsicles,

Canning fruits and vegetables . . .

My Grandma & Grandpa Berger always planted a large garden.
They also had a little orchard filled with several different fruit trees
and a blackberry patch.
I would help plant, pick, and snap green beans.
Canning green beans was a big undertaking.
No air-conditioning meant a very hot kitchen to work in.
Hard work, but oh how good those beans tasted on cold winter days.

What are some of your favorite childhood summer memories?

Weekly Words To Live By #54 . . .

So let each one give as he purposes in his heart,
 not grudgingly or of necessity;
 for God loves a cheerful giver.

Comment Problems . . .

Are you having the same problem I'm having?
For the past week or so I have not been able to leave comments
on some blogs.

I love receiving comments on my posts.
Lately I've noticed that I haven't had many comments on my blog.
Could be my posts aren't interesting enough to comment on,
or maybe folks are having the same problem I'm having.
Any suggestions for how to fix the comment problem?
Thank you in advance for your help!

Hope your Saturday is a good one!

Early Summer . . .

It's not officially summer until the 21st,
but you'd think we're in the middle of July.
HOT temps near 100 and scorching wind.
Looks like summer has arrived early!
I feel the urge to make homemade ice-cream!
