Kindness. . .

What is desired in a man is kindness.
Proverbs 19:22

Painting by G. Harvey

You may think of benevolence only in terms of giving money, but there is much more to it than that. Benevolence is simply showing kindness; and in many cases, it is more a matter of opening your heart than your wallet.

In an age of hardness and cruelty, practicing benevolence is more difficult, but also more crucial. So many people are suffering for lack of a helping hand. Give to others with the same open-handed freedom that God has given to you. Do it out of your love for Him and in a spirit of thankfulness for what you have received from Him. He will bless you for it many times over.

The heart benevolent and kind the most resembles God.

Robert Burns

  1. I like this post. Its nice to hear something different these days than always thinking your money is what is needed. Kindness can mean the biggest thing of all to someone who is hurting or lost or going thru something we may not know.

The older I get I make myself very aware of how I am to people. I remind myself to stop and think that many people walking around are going thru a pain we have no knowledge of and it could mean a huge difference having someone be nice to them.
