Lazy Hazy Days

Today is one of those lazy, hazy days of summer.

No matter how hot it is in August, the crepe myrtles seem to always flourish.

Summer breeze makes me feel fine.

Daisy Dishes

These are my Poppy Trail Sculptured Daisy dishes that I started collecting in 1975 when Hubby & I married.  We registered our choices for our dishes at the jewelry store next door to my parents' shoe store.  We received enough pieces for several place setting at showers & wedding day gifts.  Through the years I have found more pieces in antiques malls & shops.  

The popular colors for dishes, kitchenware & appliances in the 70's was green & gold.

These daisy dishes have both colors.

 The Metlox Pottery Co.that made these dishes was founded in 1927.  Too bad they went out of business in 1988.

Saturday Snapshots

I thought about naming this post, Soggy Saturday, because of the great rain we're having.

This is so usual for this time of year.  73 degrees right now with high expected to be 93.  Unreal!  Everything is green. Our flowers are lush & lovely.

I saw some great  1/2 price bargains at Lowe's this morning.

I was tempted, but decided to pass.  

Self-control is so exhausting!

Sunniest Of Plants

I'm sharing some sunny thoughts from my little sunflower book.

The French word for sunflower is tournesol, or literally "turn with the sun."

The largest sunflower head on record measured 32 1/2 inches in diameter.  It was grown in Canada.

In parts of the world sunflower seed are roasted like coffee and then brewed into a hot beverage.

The sunflower was officially named the state flower of Kansas in 1903.

"One lonely sunflower growing in the sun

Wants to play and have some fun

Then whoosh went the wind

And scattered all the seeds

And now there’s lots of sunflowers

duct tape for making noodle into a circle

 polka dot burlap ribbon from Hobby Lobby

(it took one spool to wrap the wreath)

 wide burlap ribbon for the bow from Hobby Lobby

small flowers from $ Tree 

 large flowers from Hobby Lobby.

jute twine for hanging wreath

hot glue gun

 (Ouch, that hot glue hurts!) 

I'm already getting 'Fall Fever'. 

 When September comes I'll add autumn leaves to the wreath.
