He cooks it in our outdoor gas grill. It frees up the stove for all the sides.
denisetincanlilyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07635711925466019177noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5323550437588571742.post-66042951052745985692008-11-10T16:22:00.000-06:002008-11-10T16:22:00.000-06:00I tried that deep fried turkey for the 1st time la...I tried that deep fried turkey for the 1st time last year and was surprised how good it was!!Shelleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17534904024320623895noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5323550437588571742.post-18350544518362117362008-11-10T14:58:00.000-06:002008-11-10T14:58:00.000-06:00We usually cook it the Traditional way but Dh has ...We usually cook it the Traditional way but Dh has been saying he'd love to fry it...we'll see what he decides on. It sounds interesting.

We've often spent Thanksgiving at a friends' house where our family would be in charge of dessert, but this year, I think my hubby will be preparing the turkey, getting up early to cook it in the oven the traditional way. I'll be making dessert, my favorite part of any meal!

Many sweet blessings!the voice of melodyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10554382428127646569noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5323550437588571742.post-68044957817494545512008-11-10T10:31:00.000-06:002008-11-10T10:31:00.000-06:00My family had always had turkey cooked in the oven...My family had always had turkey cooked in the oven until a couple of years ago and we were introduced to fried turkey...since then we all want it FRIED!! This is the recipe for the Gingerbread Dough Ornaments. 3 T shortening, 1/2 c sugar, 1/2 c molasses, 1 tsp. baking soda, 3/4 c water, 3 1/2 c flour, 1 tsp. each: ground cloves, cinnamon, & nutmeg.
Beat shortening & sugar together. Stir in molasses. Mix dry ingredients together. Stir them into sugar mixture & gradually add water. Dough will be very stiff. Refrigerate overnight.
Heat oven to 350. Cut dough into three pieces. Roll one piece at a time (between two sheets of waxed paper) to a thickness of about 1/4". Cut desired shape. **If you are planning to hang these ornaments, poke holes in the shapes now with a straw or toothpick** I used peppercorns for eyes, etc. instead of cloves because it was cheaper! Bake for about 20 minutes. Allow to cool & harden for several hours. Dip in melted wax or spray with a sealer.Suehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13481902281981155365noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5323550437588571742.post-21404789672231308912008-11-10T10:09:00.000-06:002008-11-10T10:09:00.000-06:00My bother in law does the deep fried turkey and it...My bother in law does the deep fried turkey and it's AMAZING!
