Dark & Stormy Day

It is a dark & stormy day.  I was bolted awake early this morning by huge clap of thunder.  About the time I think it going to clear off I hear another rumble of thunder.
Since it is so dark I decided to add a little more Halloween bling & light a few candles.
Friendly scarecrow & pumpkin on the mantel
Orange candle votives glowing on the staircase.
Colored lights on the piano.
Candy corn lights on the entry table.
Oops, looks like one little guy needs a new light bulb.
Happy Halloween Eve everyone!

Pleasantly Surprised

I was pleasantly surprised when Kathe posted this on her blog, Kathe With an E, yesterday.

Last week's most viewed link came from my friend Carol who blogs over at
Carol's Heirloom Collection

Carol shared with us her sweet Halloween tree and other blingy decor.
I have a block tree somewhere that I could have decorated too!  It's probably sitting right next to the missing bin!
Thank you Carol! We loved your awesome display! Be sure to grab yourself an
I've Been Featured button and display it proudly!

Thank you, Kathe!

Pumpkin Time

After Sunday dinner, we made our way to the pumpkin patch.  We had a great time picking out a few pumpkins.  It was so much fun watching Ethan & Emma.
When we got home Hubby & I helped Emma & Ethan carve a big pumpkin & they decorated their small pumpkins.
Emma & Ethan are proud of their jack-o-lantern that Papaw carved for them.  Ethan is a blur because he was in motion.  I was so busy helping Papaw that I didn't take pictures of him carving.
We also put out a new flag.
I found it at Michael's for $7.99.  I thought that was a bargain.

Hope today is a great start to your new week.

Words That Inspire

Take time to rest & contemplate . . .

Honor and majesty are found in His presence;

Saturday Greetings

It's a cloudy, cool, drizzly Saturday.  We're watching football & relaxing.
We made a quick Sam's run to buy essentials & Halloween candy.  Just look at all that chocolate!  It's going to be interesting to see how long it will be before Hubby opens one of the bags.  It's 11:30.  I'll let you know  later how long he waited.

Have a wonderful day!

Pumpkin Carols

Have you ever sang a pumpkin carol?
I have.  Many years ago when I was teaching elementary music I stumbled across an interesting card in a Hallmark shop.  I thought it would be fun to teach a few of these to my students.
The Peanuts Book of Pumpkin Carols
It is a fold out card.  All the songs are sung to the tune of Christmas songs.
How about singing, Deck the Patch?
Or, I'm Dreaming of The Great Pumpkin.

Speaking of The Great Pumpkin . . .

I wonder why they are airing this on Halloween night when trick or treaters are out & about ringing doorbells?  I'm pretty sure they've shown it a few days before Halloween in the past.  Oh, well, we'll have to set our DVRs.

I'm dreaming of the Great Pumpkin . . . .

Some Of My Favorites

I must confess again, that I am addicted to Pinterest.
Here are some of my favorite pins from the last few days.

Here's a fun idea for a Halloween treat that doesn't have any calories.  Socks!  The post also has other cute ideas that you'll want to check out.

Great idea for a patio or deck.  A bucket table.  You can store things in the bucket.  Genius!

An easy apple place card forThanksgiving dinner.

Make 8 meals in one hour to freeze & cook later in the crock pot.  Great comfort food meals.

And, last but not least a picture of my adorable great niece, Madison.  She did not like the school's pumpkin patch.  Maddie is the spitting image of her mommy, April.  Love this!

Happy Thursday

When To Buy Halloween Candy

When do you buy Halloween candy for trick or treaters?
My Hubby wanted to buy the treats at Sam's 3 or 4 weeks ago.  I said, "No.  It's too early."  The reason I said that to him was I knew that the treats would be gone long before Halloween.  I'm sure some of you can identify with that situation.
This is our treat basket from 2011.  See anything you like?
I see chocolate in this candy bounty.

We usually buy a chocolate mix.  You know, those gigantic bags at Sam's that are the size of pillows.
One year I bought large bags of Dum Dums.  No temptation for me.  I don't like them.  Kids love 'em.
The Halloween without chocolate was not well received in our home.
Chocolate is the candy of choice for our Halloween treats.
Bad for me, great for everyone else.  Being a diabetic is not fun during the trick or treat season.

My sisters & I like to reminisce about our trick or treat years.
We always talk about the little lady at the end of the block who always gave out popcorn balls wrapped in wax paper.  We always ate them.  There was no fear of anything poisonous and deadly in those treats.
I long for the good old days.

Back to my original question.
When do you buy Halloween candy?
