Halloween Eve

The candy is ready . . .

I'm trying to decide if Hubby & I should come up with some kind of costumes.
No doubt, Ethan would like to see us in costume.
He's so excited about his Halloween costume this year.
It reminds me of the fun our son had every Halloween.  Great memories.
And now we're enjoying watching our grandkids making memories.
Here's what they looked like last year . . .

so cute . . .

Are you dressing up for Halloween?

Recipe Reviews

If you are a regular reader of my blog you may remember when I made this post about some crock pot meals I was going to make while sisters were visiting.
Most of the recipes received a thumbs up, some a thumbs down.
The winners were pinto beans & the jalapeno corn bread, breakfast casserole & big batch chili.
The recipes that I will never make again are the French Toast casserole & the Crock Pot Corn, Bacon and Potato Chowder.  The texture of the French Toast was just too mushy & we didn't care for the taste of the chowder.
The jalapeno corn bread was the biggest hit.  Not one piece was left!

Thursday, I baked Pumpkin Snickerdoodles, perfect for a cool October day.
They are so yummy!
I found the recipe on Pinterest.
Check out my Pinterest "Cookie Jar" board here.

What do you like to bake when the weather turns cold?

Halloween Bling 2012

The winds of change are coming our way today!
The weatherman said this morning that we could probably turn our air conditioners off for good today.
That means the cool weather is arriving just in time for Halloween.

Decorating With Hedge Apples

Last week, my hubby brought home 2 bags of hedge apples that he found while he was out & about on the job.
 Facts about hedge apples.
I remember my grandma Ruby using them in her closets to keep bugs away.

I got busy yesterday adding some hedge apples to our fall decor.
I love the bright green color of hedge apples.
This is the wooden box that Kari's sister & brother in law made for me.  I added a few apples for a pop of color.
I wrapped scrap paper strips to some apples on the mantel.

Ribbon adds a little glam to these hedge apples.
in the dining room . . .
and in the powder room . . .
And finally . . .
a funny little pumpkin on top of an apple to make a topiary.

Come back tomorrow to see all the Halloween bling around our house.
